Job description

The LSE Department of Philosophy, Logic and Scientific Method seeks applications for a one-year LSE Fellowship in Philosophy. The LSE Fellow will contribute to the scholarship and intellectual life of the School by conducting teaching and research which will enhance the School’s reputation as a research-led teaching institution, with appropriate mentoring from the department.

Salary from £35,999 to £42,019 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £43,360 pa inclusive of London allowance

This is a fixed term appointment for 12 months, starting from 2 September 2019

The post holder's main responsibilities will be to contribute to the teaching of a “Philosophy for Policy Makers” course primarily for MPP students in the School of Public Policy and to the teaching of a “Philosophy, Morals and Politics” (moral and political philosophy) course primarily for MSc and undergraduate students pursuing degrees in Philosophy.

Candidates should have a very good knowledge of (i) philosophy and public policy and (ii) moral and/or political philosophy. They should also have a developing, high quality research record in philosophy and public policy, moral philosophy, and/or political philosophy. They should have relevant teaching experience and an ability to do high quality teaching, as evidenced by references and/or teaching evaluations. Candidates should have completed or be close to completing a PhD in Philosophy or another relevant discipline by the post start date.
