Job description |
Wuhan University is proud to announce the fourth annual offering of the Wuhan University International Research Fellowship in philosophy. For this position, we are looking for candidates who have been trained in contemporary western philosophy but have research interests in Chinese philosophy, and will be pursuing a research program in comparative philosophy. Applicants with a specialization in an area other than Chinese philosophy are encouraged to apply for our open AOS position. ABOUT US Located in the city of Wuhan, Wuhan University is a top research university in mainland China (ranked 5th), with one of the top-ranked philosophy departments (ranked 4th). Our large, international faculty is engaged in all areas of philosophical research, with scholars dedicated to traditional Chinese philosophy, contemporary western philosophy, ethics, aesthetics, philosophy of religion, and Marxist philosophy. Please check out our website at www.whu.edu.cn/phi/ ABOUT THE FELLOWSHIP This is a two-year post-doctoral fellowship, intended to provide a forum for outstanding recent PhDs to develop their research projects. No teaching is required, although applicants interested in taking on teaching responsibilities during their time here can be accommodated. The starting date is September 1, 2019. Salary is 120,000-180,000 RMB annually (well above the median income in the area); health insurance included. APPLICANTS Applicants should have a well-developed research project, which they will pursue during the course of the fellowship at Wuhan University. Publication in major international journals is expected. Please be aware that this position will involve relocation to mainland China, and take this fact into account when deciding to apply. Due to unfortunate requirements tied to university postdoc funding, applicants must be under the age of 35. Send applications or inquiries to Dr. Matt Lutz at [email protected] Applications should include a CV, a sample of written work (no longer than 8,000 words), a cover letter describing your research project and your interest in Wuhan University, and three letters of recommendation. The application deadline is January 1st, 2019. |
