Job description |
The School of Humanities and Languages in UNSW Arts & Social Sciences is one of Australia’s leading centres of teaching and research excellence in History, Philosophy, Environmental Humanities, Languages, Linguistics and Area Studies. The philosophy program at UNSW consists of 11 permanent members of staff, across diverse areas of research expertise. We offer a major and a minor in philosophy within the Bachelor of Arts degree, and contribute to the degree in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (PPE). For further overview of the School, see https://hal.arts.unsw.edu.au/ and on the role of Philosophy within the School, see https://hal.arts.unsw.edu.au/disciplines/philosophy/about/. For more information on USNW’s PPE degree, see https://www.handbook.unsw.edu.au/undergraduate/programs/2019/3478. The Lecturer in Ethics will teach primarily ethics, across all levels of the undergraduate philosophy curriculum. The successful candidate should also be able to contribute to some or all of the School’s other teaching needs in philosophy, which include the history of philosophy and core courses in the PPE degree. As this is a combined teaching/research position, the post-holder will contribute to UNSW’s research profile through the production of high-quality research; the post-holder’s specialist area of research could be any area of ethics, including historical approaches. |
