Faculty position: The Mohammad Atallah Chair in Ethics—Senior rank

The Faculty of Arts and Sciences at the American University of Beirut invites applications for the Mohammad Atallah Chair in Ethics at the level of Associate or Full Professor of Philosophy to begin August 15, 2019. The position includes a reduced teaching load and a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications, experience, and proven ability. 

The Mohammad Atallah Chair in Ethics will be expected to pursue a research program in Ethics and to provide leadership in advanced research, teaching, and curriculum development, related to the field of Ethics, by collaborating with University faculties, centers, departments and units. The Chair will also be responsible for forging working relations with experts and policymakers throughout the region, and to develop relationships with other institutions and organizations in the region and around the world.

A PhD in philosophy is required. The Chair’s AOS should be primarily in Ethics, including areas of competence in normative and applied ethics (e.g., Environmental, Bio-Medical, Business, and Engineering). The language of instruction and administration at AUB is English.
