Lecturer in Political Theory in the Department of Politics and Public Administration (Ref.: 201801586)

Applications are invited for appointment as Lecturer in Political Theory in the Department of Politics and Public Administration, to commence on August 15, 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal.

Applicants should possess a Master’s degree in relevant disciplines, preferably with a Ph.D. degree. They should have at least 3 years’ teaching experience at tertiary level, particularly in contemporary political theory such as democratic theory and practice, theories of justice, and global political theory. Experience in teaching applied ethics, the history of Western political thought or comparative political thought would be an advantage. The appointee is also expected to take up administrative duties. Information about the Department can be obtained at http://ppa.hku.hk.

A globally competitive remuneration package commensurate with the appointee’s qualifications and experience will be offered. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary, as well as leave, and medical benefits. Please note that the University will not offer a relocation assistance package (including temporary University housing accommodation and a passage and baggage allowance) to the successful candidate recruited from overseas.
