Assistant Professor, Philosophy Department, Missouri State University AOS: Applied Ethics (esp. Global Ethics) AOC: Open, but should complement the teaching needs of the department Job Description: The Philosophy Department at Missouri State University is accepting applications for the position of a full-time, tenure track, Assistant Professor of Philosophy. The new hire will teach an upper division undergraduate course in Global Ethics, as well as other Applied Ethics courses, as a part of his or her regular rotation, in addition to introductory level courses. Candidates should be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching - and especially, teaching introductory level students - and once hired, the new faculty member will be required to maintain an active research program. They also should be able to demonstrate experience working in a diverse environment and/or with students from diverse backgrounds. Eligible candidates will either have a Ph.D. in philosophy or be ABD in a philosophy graduate program. The dissertation must be successfully defended and the degree granted, before the beginning of the Fall Semester, 2019. The standard course load at Missouri State is 4/4, but is reduced to 3/3, with regular publication in peer-reviewed, professional journals. The new hire will also be expected to engage in the usual administrative and committee work, at the departmental, college, and university levels.
