Job description

We are looking to recruit philosophers (ideally post-doctoral or nearly post-doctoral) to 2 posts, each of which combines University teaching in Applied Ethics with external training and consultancy work in ethics, with commercial organisations and professional bodies.

Teaching Fellow and Consultant in Applied Ethics
University of Leeds - Inter Disciplinary Ethics

Fixed term for 36 months

You will develop and deliver teaching and resources in inter-disciplinary applied ethics within higher education and as part of continuing professional development (CPD) in the workplace.You should be committed to fostering the development of ethical reasoning skills, both inside and outside academia. In this exciting role you will be provided with an excellent opportunity to work at the interface between higher education and the professional world. You should be a dynamic individual with a sound grounding in ethics and able to make a significant contribution to the translation of professional practice into learning opportunities for students and professionals. You will be a member of a team making a major and innovative impact in ethics learning and teaching, research, training and consultancy. There are two key parts to this role, which complement one another and often overlap. 1) Working in partnership with the colleagues in a number of Ethics Theme Teams in a range of disciplines, to plan, develop and teach materials which are appropriate for use in specific programmes of study within the University of Leeds, and undertaking the associated administration.2) Working with the professional ethics external consultancy and training team to develop, deliver and market training courses, commissioned research and other consultancy services in professional ethics, and undertaking associated administration.
