Nuffield Senior Research Fellow in Political Theory Salary: GBP 86,000 to GBP 101,000 per annum The Department of Politics and International Relations and Nuffield College at the University of Oxford seek to appoint a Nuffield Senior Research Fellow in Political Theory to provide high-level intellectual leadership and undertake world class research in Political Theory. The successful candidate will be expected to establish the strategic direction of, and to lead, a major research programme in the field of Political Theory; to develop further and broaden the range of Political Theory research at Oxford; to contribute to teaching programmes and academic supervision of graduate students; and to play a full and active role in the academic life of the Department of Politics and International Relations and Nuffield College. This is one of two senior leadership appointments in the field of Political Theory at Oxford, the other post being the Chichele Professorship of Social and Political Theory, which is expected to be advertised later this year. The successful candidate for the Nuffield Senior Research Fellowship will be a distinguished scholar in the field of Political Theory with international reputation and with the ability to conduct research of the highest quality and to provide academic leadership in the field. She or he will hold a doctorate in a relevant field and will have an outstanding publication record and excellent reputation in teaching and academic supervision. It is expected that the successful candidate will be capable of operating at the level of professor in a top research university. On appointment the Professorial title may be sought, if appropriate. The post is full-time and tenable from 1 January 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter. The successful candidate will be based at Nuffield College and the Department of Politics and International Relations.
