Postdoctoral Research Associate in Values and Public Life

The University Center for Human Values invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate or more senior research position in Values and Public Life. We aim to appoint a highly promising scholar trained in contemporary political theory to provide support for programs in the University Center for Human Values and to carry on a research agenda in his or her area of specialization.

The successful candidate will undertake a research project exploring a contemporary normative problem arising in domestic or global public life.   The candidate will be expected to conduct three sections of a non-credit senior thesis workshop in the Center’s undergraduate Values and Public Life (VPL) certificate program, under the supervision of the VPL faculty director.  In addition, the candidate will work with the director to provide support for the Center’s VPL programming.

Qualifications

Applications are welcome from scholars who have or expect to have a Ph.D. by the start date, September 1, 2016.  Applicants must not have held the degree for more than three years by that date. They may not be employed by another institution during the term of their Princeton appointment.

Applications will be evaluated on the basis of the applicant’s previous accomplishments, experience relevant to the undergraduate certificate program, and the promise of the proposed research project. Their capacity to serve as a teacher and mentor in the Center’s undergraduate program will also be taken into account.
