Ethics and Applied Ethics (12-Month Lecturer)

The Department of Philosophy at UBC is seeking applications for a 12-Month Lecturer in Ethics, Social Philosophy and Applied Ethics. Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. in Philosophy or a related field. The successful candidate will possess a strong commitment to teaching and will have a track record of teaching excellence.  The teaching load will include undergraduate courses in one or more areas of applied ethics (Biomedical ethics; Business ethics; Environmental ethics) and social philosophy (Power and Oppression, Sex; Gender and Philosophy). The position involves teaching 24 credits (equivalent of eight 3-credit courses, with an expected 3-3 load in the winter session and 2 additional courses in the summer of 2017) and participating fully in student advising, departmental service, events, and initiatives. This 1-year leave-replacement appointment is expected to commence September 1, 2016. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.
