Job Description

The Department of Philosophy at Concordia College invites applications for a one-year, full time term appointment beginning August 15, 2016 for an Instructor or Assistant Professor (depending on receipt of Ph.D.), with a teaching load of six courses over two semesters.   During fall semester, 2016, the candidate hired for this position will teach an introductory level social and political philosophy course, a freshman seminar course, “Living in an Age of Climate Change,” and an upper level Environmental Ethics course that is taken by students in the Environmental Studies program as well as by Philosophy students.   Courses to be taught during spring semester, 2017, will be determined in consultation with the candidate hired with opportunities for offerings in Philosophy of Religion, Ethics, Race, Gender, and Logic.

Concordia is a college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), and familiarity with Christianity as an intellectual tradition will be a positive factor in consideration of applicants.

Candidates whose teaching, research, and/or other professional activities focus on under-represented populations, and who are interested in facilitating diversity-related learning opportunities for students are highly valued by the department and the college.
