Job description |
The Department of Philosophy is pleased to announce the opening of a full-time, unclassified faculty position at the Instructor or Assistant Professor level. The International Faculty position will teach and manage courses at SIAS university, FHSU’s dual degree partner university in China. For a full description go www.fhsu.edu/positions. The course load is fifteen hours per semester. This will mean five three-credit hour sections, two different courses, with caps of sixty students. All courses will be delivered in English. Applicants must be able to communicate and interact well with students, faculty and host institutions. Successful candidates must be willing to relocate to SIAS University in Zhengzhao China, or the surrounding area. The contract is a renewable ten-month contract, beginning fall of 2016. The Department of Philosophy supports a variety of programs and departments at FHSU. This includes 1) traditional on-campus courses, 2) classes offered through distance education to domestic students, 3) courses via our international partners. This position will teach classes with for students in the Leadership Studies and the Global Business English programs at SIAS University. The primary courses are GLE 201: Critical Thinking for the Professional and IDS 401: Ethical Issues in the Professions and Business. MA in philosophy or related field required, PhD preferred. Limited research and service expected. Preference will be given to applicants who have prior experience working with international/ESL students. Review of applications begins March 1, 2016.
