Permanent Whole-time Appointment

UCC wishes to appoint an established scholar of international standing to a Professorship in the Department of Philosophy within the School of Sociology and Philosophy in the College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Sciences.  This is an exciting opportunity for leadership in a vibrant and collegial community of active researchers and full-time students at the BA, MA and PhD levels.

The Professor will be expected to provide leadership and support for the Department’s research and teaching activities.  The appointee will have a substantial international reputation in scholarship especially in the field of ethics and political philosophy (which may include applied areas of these specialisations), a demonstrable track record of excellence in the delivery of research-led teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, the capacity to provide strong and proactive academic leadership, and skills to develop new initiatives for the promotion and co-ordination of interdisciplinary teaching, learning and research across the Department, the School and the University.

Appointment will be made on the Professorial Salary Scale:  €106,516 - €136,277.
