School of Philosophy Lecturer (above the bar) in Philosophy: Permanent Post

Applications are invited for a permanent appointment as Lecturer (above the bar) in Philosophy, UCD School of Philosophy. This is an academic teaching and research post in philosophy. The area of specialisation (AOS) is open. The School of Philosophy at UCD has strengths in both the ‘continental’ and ‘analytic’ styles of philosophical inquiry, and so welcomes candidates who are able to engage constructively with both traditions. The School also welcomes candidates whose on-going research demonstrates the capacity to engage with the history of philosophy and/or with contemporary philosophical concerns. In addition, since the School will have teaching needs in the areas of aesthetics and medieval philosophy, candidates are invited to highlight any research and teaching strengths in those areas if applicable.  Furthermore, the post holder is expected to contribute to the development of high quality research in the School through significant publications and research collaborations and the organisation of and contribution to workshops, seminars, and conferences.  Note: It is envisaged that interviews will take place in early February 2016.

The appointed Lecturer will ideally commence in post on 1 September 2016. '2013 Lecturer (above the bar)_2010 Salary Scale': €50,807 -­‐ €76,936 p.a. Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines
