The Department of Philosophy (http://philosophy.tamu.edu) at Texas A&M University, College Station invites applications for an Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track) position. The Areas of Specialization are Black Existentialism or Africana Philosophy of Literature. The Areas of Competence is Africana Philosophy broadly construed though some familiarity with Black Aesthetics is desirable. We seek a scholar who would enhance the department’s specialization in Africana philosophy and Critical Race Theory. The Department of Philosophy at Texas A&M University is a pluralistic department with concentrations in Analytic, Continental, American, Latin American, and Africana philosophy. Preference will be given to candidates who complement the plurality of thought already present in the department, while contributing specifically to the established program in Africana philosophy. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in philosophy or a closely related field at time of appointment and will be expected to teach the standard load in the Department of Philosophy of two courses per semester, coupled with graduate student advising, and other committee work.
