Director of the Rock Ethics Institute
The Pennsylvania State University, College of the Liberal Arts, invites applications and nominations for the position of Director of the Rock Ethics Institute. The Rock Ethics Institute, founded in 2001, seeks to promote ethical literacy and catalyze ethical leadership throughout the Penn State community and to foster interdisciplinary ethics research designed to address significant social issues and pressing world problems. The position of Director is to be filled at the rank of tenured Professor, effective July 1, 2016.
Applicants should have scholarly credentials commensurate with a senior appointment at a major research university, demonstrate administrative experience or evidence of administrative potential, have the ability to manage the ongoing grant and development activities of the Institute, and the flexibility to lead a multi-disciplinary, cross-college unit with existing and potential partnerships with multiple programs across the college and the university. The Dean is prepared to make investments commensurate with maintaining and improving the Institute’s national and international reputation. Tenure will be held in a department in the College of the Liberal Arts, and the appointment will include appropriate teaching and research responsibilities.
