Assistant Professor of Philosophy The Department of Arts & Humanities at Western New England University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Philosophy, tenure-track, starting Fall 2016. Area of Specialty: Open. Areas of Competence: Open, but preference will be given to candidates that are able to develop and teach courses on philosophy of technology and philosophy of science. Teaching 8 courses per year/4 per semester, undergraduate only. We seek candidates who demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and a desire to be involved with the wider University community in addition to promoting the study of philosophy. Teaching will include courses on Technology and Society, possibly the Philosophy of Science and Biomedical Ethics. The successful applicant may also be asked to teach Critical Thinking, Introduction to Philosophy, and other courses. Scholarship is expected and course release time may be available for research. Applicants must have a Ph.D. prior to appointment. Teaching experience at the college or university level is preferred. Salary is competitive and commensurate with credentials and experience. Excellent fringe benefits including tuition remission for employee, spouse, and dependent children. Summer teaching at additional pay is available.
