Philosophy

Philosophy at Stirling prides itself on combining an innovative teaching programme with research at the highest level. We offer an excellent undergraduate teaching programme centred in the analytic tradition broadly conceived, and covering all major aspects of the subject, and we are committed to providing a dynamic and supportive learning environment in which students can easily feel at home. We regularly score 98-100% overall satisfaction in the UK’s National Student Survey, significantly above the sector average.

The St Andrews and Stirling Graduate Programme in Philosophy (SASP), taught in partnership with St Andrews University, is Scotland's leading centre for graduate study in Philosophy and one of the highest-ranked Philosophy schools in the United Kingdom.
We have an active research environment with weekly Visiting Speaker Seminars, frequent Conferences and Workshops, and ongoing research projects. The research expertise of our staff members includes:
• Epistemology, Rationality and Normativity
• History of Philosophy

• Philosophy of Mind and Metaphysics

Philosophy staff have been particularly successful in attracting external research funding through individual projects and collaborative ventures.
