Poynter Chair/Center Director The Media School in the College of Arts and Sciences at Indiana University Bloomington invites applications from outstanding scholars to fill the Poynter Chair in Media Ethics and serve as the director of the Poynter Center for the Study of Ethics and American Institutions. Applicants are expected to hold a terminal degree (Ph.D., JD, etc.) in a relevant discipline and have a demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching consistent with holding an endowed professorship as a tenured Associate or Full Professor at IU Bloomington. The future Director will oversee programmatic and budgetary functions at the Poynter Center that is located within The Media School. We want to hire someone with leadership and personal qualities that complement the interdisciplinary, multi-method, and collaborative scholarship of the Poynter Center. The director of the Poynter Center will be expected to serve as the intellectual leader, maintaining and developing new links to other IU schools and departments as well as other colleges, universities, funding agencies, and organizations throughout the United States and world. The Poynter Center is moving into new era that includes increased focus on media and media ethics, including novel and unconventional forms of media, while sustaining momentum in such other areas as professional ethics, medical ethics, and the study of religion and ethics. The Center claims strong collaborative relationships across the campus. Joint appointments with other departments in the College of Arts and Sciences or another professional school may be possible.
