Job description |
The Department of Philosophy at the University of Northern Colorado seeks a colleague who has a strong commitment to general undergraduate teaching and strengths that complement those of our existing faculty. We are currently well positioned to offer courses in ethics (theoretical and applied), logic, metaphysics and contemporary philosophy. Enthusiasm for teaching both introductory level courses suitable for non-majors and upper division courses in more specialized areas -- including, but not limited to, epistemology -- is essential; the ability to contribute to the department’s existing offerings in the history of Western philosophy and offer one or more courses in non-Western philosophy is desirable. This is a tenure track position with a 3/3 or 60% teaching load (with 20% of time dedicated to undergraduate advising and professional/community service, and 20% dedicated to scholarship). Applicants must have PhD in hand by August 2016. Review of applications begins immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit materials by October 1, 2015 regardless of their preferred start date. |

In response to a few applicant queries we have made slight modifications to the last three sentences of our original positing. We wish to make clear that while we are able to hire in January, we are perfectly willing to wait until August. Our primary goal is to find the most suitable candidate for our position, and all applicants will receive equal consideration so long as they expect to have PhD in hand by August 2016.
