Job description

The Department of Philosophy at UBC is seeking applications for a 12-Month Lecturer in European Philosophy. Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. in Philosophy or a related field. The successful candidate will possess a strong commitment to teaching, will have a track record of teaching excellence, and will be able to teach a variety of courses related to the field of European Philosophy. The teaching load will include upper-division undergraduate courses from among Existentialism, Continental Philosophy, Philosophy and Literature, and topics courses in 19th- and 20th-century philosophy. Ability to teach Kant is an asset. The position involves teaching 24 credits (equivalent of eight 3-credit courses, with an expected 3-3 load in the winter session and 2 additional courses in the summer of 2016) and participating fully in student advising, departmental service, events, and initiatives. This 1-year leave-replacement appointment is expected to commence September 1, 2015. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.
