A two-years position, renewable (the yearly gross amount of the fellowship is of 21.000,00 Euro), entirely devoted to carry out a research project within the scope indicated by the following line: Title Finalism vs. Antifinalism: Leibniz, Spinoza and the Debate on Teleology in Early Modern Metaphycs and Epistemology. A Clash of Paradigms. Description Scientific revolution radically challenged the traditional forms of teleological thought. Recent studies shed new light on this process. Starting from the alternative models worked out by Spinoza and Leibniz, this research aims at providing an updated map of this major conceptual change, by emphasizing the related conceptual shift, the blend of different explanatory paradigms, the complex tehological and epistemological implications. Applicants are invited to submit their more specific research program focused on the topics and problems included in this general framework. |
