Job description

Job Responsibilities:

  • Area of specialization: Ethics, Applied Ethics, or Social and Political Philosophy.
  • Teaching competence: Business Ethics.
  • Teach lower and upper level courses in undergraduate philosophy program.
  • Contribute to program and course development.
  • Participate in Philosophy Department activities.
  • Advise undergraduate students.
  • Standard teaching load is 24 credits; 8 courses per year.
  • Engage in scholarly activity.
  • Participate in service to the department, university, and community.
  • Contribute to student growth and development.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Philosophy (degree must be conferred and on a transcript at time of application).
  • One (1) year of teaching experience at college level. 
  • Demonstrated teaching competence in business ethics and area of specialization (ethics, applied ethics, or social and political philosophy).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated potential for research.
  • Preparation for teaching in areas of specialization and competence (listed above in the responsibilities section).
  • Breadth of teaching interests, and in particular, interest in developing and teaching philosophy of history or philosophy of social science.
  • Experience teaching writing intensive and general education courses.
  • Experience teaching online or hybrid courses at the college level.
  • Record of successful workplace collaboration.
  • Evidence of contribution to student growth and development.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
