Job description

Indiana State University invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Philosophy, beginning fall 2015. AOS: Bioethics. AOC: Ancient Philosophy, Philosophy of Religion. Candidates must have Ph. D. in hand at the time of appointment. The philosopher will be expected to teach courses in Bioethics of Genomic Science, Ancient Philosophy, Medieval Philosophy, Philosophy of Religion, Introduction to Philosophy, Introduction to Ethics, and Introduction to Logic. The philosopher will have ability to participate in teaching and research in interdisciplinary Graduate programs. The official teaching load for tenured- and tenure-track faculty is 4:4 (12 hours per semester).  However, a one-course reassignment per semester for scholarship is typical. Opportunities exist to work with ISU’s many institutes and programs such as the Center for Genomic Advocacy, the Institute for Community Sustainability, and the Center for Global Engagement.
