The Department of Philosophy at UBC invites applications for a 1-year limited-term position at the rank of Assistant Professor Without Review to commence July 1, 2015. Area of Specialization: history of early modern philosophy (through Kant). The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. (or expect to have successfully defended prior to 1 July 2015) and have research expertise and demonstrated accomplishments in scholarship (evidenced by high-quality publication and/or significant conference participation). S/he will be expected to maintain an active program of research and teaching, and to undertake service duties as assigned by the Head. The teaching load for the year will be four 3-credit courses. Applicants should send a curriculum vitae, a sample of their publications, a statement of teaching philosophy, and evidence of teaching ability and effectiveness.
