Job description |
The Philosophy & Gender Studies program within the School of Humanities seeks applicants for a continuing Lectureship in the area of Feminist Philosophy. (Such a position equates to Assistant Professor tenure-track in the North American parlance.) The successful candidate will possess demonstrated research and teaching excellence in Feminist Philosophy and a PhD in Philosophy. She or he will teach undergraduate units in both the major in Philosophy and the major in Gender Studies. The successful applicant must have demonstrated capacity with respect to unit coordination and administration, as well as highly developed interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated experience in thesis supervision (Honours, MA, or PhD) is desirable but not essential. Demonstrated experience in curriculum design is similarly desirable. Philosophy & Gender Studies at University of Tasmania is a pluralist program. We especially welcome applicants with teaching competence in the Continental tradition – though we have needs in ethics and social/political philosophy as well. In any event, applicants should relate their experience of, and commitment to, maintaining the open and collegial atmosphere essential to any pluralist program. Informal enquiries may be addressed to Prof. Dirk Baltzly ([email protected]). Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted. Applications must be made through the University’s on-line HR system. They should include: 1) a cover letter addressing the selection criteria; 2) a current CV; 3) a portfolio documenting teaching excellence; 4) a short sample of recent work; 5) names of at least three referees. |
