Job description

Xavier University of Louisiana’s Philosophy Department in the Division of Fine Arts and Humanities invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track appointment.  Xavier, founded by Saint Katharine Drexel and the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, is Catholic and historically Black. The ultimate purpose of the University is to contribute to the promotion of a more just and humane society.

The standard teaching load per semester is 12 credit hours which is equivalent to teaching four undergraduate courses per semester. Teaching consists of introductory-level and/or upper-level philosophy courses, including applied ethics. Committee work and some scholarship is expected. The Area of Specialization is open and the Area of Competence is open. Ph.D. in philosophy is preferred by August, 2015.
