Job description

Department: Political Science, Philosophy and Geography
Position: Assistant Professor – Comparative Philosophy – Tenure Track
Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Philosophy or Comparative Philosophy. Areas of specialty should include teaching comparative, i.e., western and non-western philosophy, and comparing subjects pertaining to the two areas of study, as well as subjects within a particular tradition. Teaching experience in Ancient Greek Philosophy. Knowledge of the Ancient Greek language would be a plus. Areas of competence to include ethics, continental philosophy and the basic philosophy courses in the liberal arts curriculum.
Position Description: We are seeking a candidate who is dedicated to teaching the philosophies of the world and comparing the world views, epistemology and ethics of the different traditions. We expect teaching critical thinking and complex reasoning, not only as a course, but in every course that is taught in the Philosophy major. We also expect research in comparative studies and service to the department and the university
