Job description

Jesus College and the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Oxford welcome applications for a Tutorial Fellowship in Philosophy to be held in conjunction with a University Associate Professorship (or Professorship) in Philosophy. The post is for a specialist in the field of Moral Philosophy. Candidates should normally have received the degree of PhD by 1 September 2015 and should be able to devise and give high-quality research-led tutorials, classes, and lectures for undergraduates, conduct graduates classes, and supervise graduate students. They should also have an excellent research record and be engaged in advanced research. The postholder will be expected to deliver an average of 8 hours of tutorials per week for the College and at least 16 lectures per year, take part in University examining, as well as engage in appropriate administration for both the College and Faculty. The postholder will enjoy an exceptionally rich academic environment in which to pursue research and teaching in the field. The post will be filled from 1 September 2015 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The salary will be on a scale currently from £44,620 per annum, with substantial additional benefits, including a pensionable housing allowance of £10,286 per annum payable to non-residential Tutorial Fellows; a responsibility allowance of £1,495 per annum; and a choice of schemes for research and teaching expenses, amounting to between £1,500 and £1,700 per annum. Jesus College operates an equity sharing scheme, to assist Fellows in purchasing their house. Additional College and Faculty allowances are available.
