Job description

The College of Humanities and Fine Arts at Coastal Carolina University invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor in Philosophy. The Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies seeks an exceptional teacher and promising scholar to teach both introductory core courses and upper division courses in our major. The appointment is effective August 2015.

A Ph.D. in philosophy is required (ABD considered if completed by May 2015). Candidates are expected to have a record that suggests scholarly promise and demonstrates teaching excellence, a broad background in philosophy, and a strong commitment to a liberal arts education.  Course load is seven undergraduate courses per year; summer teaching is possible if desired.  AOS: Modern Philosophy, AOC: Applied Ethics and/or Logic. Prior experience with distance learning would be beneficial.

The University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award the baccalaureate and selective master’s degrees of national and/or regional significance in the arts and sciences, business, humanities, education, and health and human services, a specialist degree in educational leadership, and a Ph.D. degree in Marine Science.
